Getting to the island

Kungsholmen is an island in Lake Mälaren, so every car comes in over a bridge. Essingeleden, the E4/E20 motorway, runs across the western side past Stadshagen, Lindhagen, Kristineberg and Fredhäll. If there is a jam or roadworks on the way, we tell you on the call. If you don't know the exact address, a nearby street name or a shop you can see is a good start.

Blocks, grids and a "city in a park"

The street grid in the older parts of Kungsholmen still follows the Lindhagen plan from the late 1800s. For you, the practical side is the same as in most of the inner city: a street door with a code, a stairwell, and your own flat door.

Fredhäll was built from the early 1930s on the idea of a "city in a park". Wherever you live on the island, a steel security door that locks itself as it closes is the most common reason people call us.

Typical calls on Kungsholmen

• Locked out in the stairwell. The flat door shut while you took out the rubbish.
• Keys lost on the way home. Gone on the bus, in a bar, on a run along the water. If your address was with them, change the cylinder.
• Key snapped in the lock. Leave the piece in. Don't use glue or tools.
• Break-in. Police first: 112 if it is happening now, 114 14 afterwards. Then us.

What happens when you call

2. 2Hear the price. One fixed amount. Daytime bookings start from SEK 1 295; the call itself sets the price for a night or weekend job.

4. 4ID check, then a non-destructive opening. If your ID is inside, we check it straight after, just inside the door.
