Lost your keys in Stockholm? Opening and a new lock the same night

Usually there within 20–40 min / Fixed price on the phone / Card and Swish

Yes, we can come tonight, usually within 20–40 min. On the call you get a fixed price for opening the door and, if you want it, a new cylinder so the old keys stop working.

Losing keys is two problems at once. You can't get in. And somebody else might.

The real question: can the finder get in?

Think about what was with the keys. A tag with your address? A wallet with your ID? A gym bag with a letter in it? Then a stranger may be able to match the keys to your door.

If the keys were alone, with nothing to link them to you, the risk is lower. Many people still change the lock to be sure. It is your choice, and we give you an honest view on the phone.

If you think the keys were stolen rather than lost, report it to the police on 114 14. If you think someone is trying to get in right now, call 112.

What to do now

  1. 1Retrace quickly. The last shop, the bus, the bar. Many keys turn up within the hour. Public transport has a lost-property service, and a shop may have them behind the counter.
  2. 2Check for a spare. Partner, flatmate, a friend. If you rent, your landlord may hold a key.
  3. 3Call us if none of that works. Tell us the address and whether you want only an opening or an opening plus a new cylinder.
  4. 4Have ID ready, or tell us it is inside. We check it at the door.

Opening and lock change in one visit

We start by opening your door without damage. Then, if you want, we replace the cylinder. That is the part of the lock the key goes into. A new cylinder means the lost keys no longer fit. The new one comes with new keys.

Common cylinders are in the van, so the change usually happens on the spot. If your lock is unusual, we tell you on the phone what we can do tonight.

A lock change is from SEK 1 495, labour included. The cylinder itself is priced on the phone, because it depends on your lock. You hear the full amount before we drive. Nothing gets changed without your yes. More on emergency lock changes.

If you live in a BRF or rent

Many people in Sweden live in a housing cooperative, a "BRF" (bostadsrättsförening). In a BRF flat, the lock on your own front door is usually your responsibility, so you can have it changed through us. Check the association's rules if you are unsure, especially if the building has a master-key system.

If you rent, the lock belongs to your landlord. Tell them you lost the keys. Some landlords want to arrange the change themselves; others accept that you did it in an emergency and want the receipt. You get a receipt from us either way. Read our page for tenants.

Lost keys and insurance

Swedish home insurance ("hemförsäkring") sometimes covers a lock change after lost or stolen keys. Rules differ between insurers and policies. Keep our receipt and ask your insurer. If the keys were stolen, they usually want the police report number from 114 14.

Short answers

Do I need to change the lock? Only if you think the keys can be linked to your home. We tell you honestly.

What if I find the old keys later? They won't fit the new cylinder. Use the new ones.

What does it cost all together? One fixed price on the phone: call-out, opening and, if you want it, the new cylinder. See prices.
