Emergency lock change in Stockholm – the same evening

Yes, we can change your lock tonight. A locksmith is usually at your door within 20–40 min, and you hear a fixed price on the phone before we drive.

We do emergency lock changes for acute reasons only. That means something has happened and you can't wait for an appointment next week.

When a lock change can't wait

• Your keys are lost and your address could be linked to them.
• Your keys were stolen, for example in a bag snatched with your ID in it.
• There has been a break-in and the cylinder or lock is damaged. See after a break-in.
• Someone you no longer trust has a key. An ex-partner, a former flatmate, a subletter who left on bad terms.
• The lock has failed and the door no longer locks.

If you feel threatened by someone with a key, call 112. The police come first, the lock comes second.

What we change

Most Swedish doors have a lock case inside the door and a cylinder on the outside. The cylinder is the part the key goes into. Changing it is usually enough: the old keys stop working, the new cylinder comes with new keys.

Sometimes the lock case is damaged too, after a break-in or simply from age. Then we tell you, and you get the price before we touch it.

How it goes

1. 1Call. Tell us why you need the change, what kind of door you have and, if you can see it, the brand on the cylinder.
2. 2Price. You get a fixed price for the call-out and the work. The cylinder is priced on the phone too, since it depends on your lock.
3. 3We drive. Usually 20–40 min. Common cylinders are in the van.
4. 4ID check. We check that you live there. A lock change for someone who doesn't is a lock-out for the person who does.
5. 5The change. Old cylinder out, new one in. We test it with you, with the door open and closed.
6. 6Receipt. Card or Swish. A receipt that shows what was replaced.

In a rental or a BRF

Renting. The lock belongs to your landlord ("hyresvärd"). In an emergency you can still have it changed tonight. Tell your landlord afterwards and keep our receipt. Some buildings use a master-key system; then the landlord may need to order the cylinder. We say on the phone if your lock looks like part of one. More on renting.

BRF. In a housing cooperative, the lock on your own front door is usually yours to change. Check the association's rules if the building has a shared key system for storage rooms or the street door.

Price

A lock change is from SEK 1 495, labour included. The cylinder or lock itself is priced on the phone. If we also need to open the door first, that is part of the same fixed price. Evenings, nights and weekends are priced on the call, and there is no extra charge for distance. See prices.

Nothing gets replaced without your yes. If you only want an opening tonight and a planned change later, that is fine. Tell us on the phone.

What we don't do

We are an emergency service. The new cylinder comes with its own set of keys, and that set is what you get. We don't install new doors either. Our job is the lock on the door you already have, tonight.

After the change

Hand out the new keys carefully. Count them. If you rent, your landlord may want a key; ask them. Keep the receipt for your insurance or your landlord. If your old keys turn up, they no longer fit.
