Old houses, new blocks, different doors

Södermalm is a mix, and so are its doors. Around streets such as Mäster Mikaels gata, Stigbergsgatan and Åsögatan, wooden houses from the 1700s still stand. Doors there can be old, with locks that have been changed and changed again over the years. We take extra care with them. A clean, non-destructive opening matters even more on a door you can't simply replace.

By the 1880s the city had grown down as far as Skånegatan and Ringvägen. In apartment buildings, the usual setup is a street door with a code and a steel security door on each flat. Those flat doors lock by themselves when they close. That is the single most common reason we are called here.

Down by Hammarbykanalen, Norra Hammarbyhamnen was built in the 1990s. In newer buildings anywhere in Stockholm, a key fob instead of a door code at the street entrance is common, and some flats have smart locks. If your fob is inside, tell us on the call so we can work out how to get into the building.

What to tell us when you call

• the street and number, and which entrance
• the door code ("portkod"), if you know it
• your floor and the name on the door
• what happened: locked out, lost keys, broken key, break-in

Then have your ID ready, or tell us it is inside. We check that you live there before we open, or just inside the door if your wallet is in the flat.

One fixed amount on the phone for the call-out and the job. A booked daytime opening is from SEK 1 295; nights and weekends are priced on the call. No charge for distance. Card or Swish on the spot, with a receipt.

Renting on Södermalm?
